What most viewers fail to realize is that Casa de mi Padre is intended to look low budget and bad. The whole premise of the movie is to make fun of Mexican-made films. The dialogue is not supposed to be funny (and it isn't) - the comedic aspect comes from how terrible the film is.

So many people give Casa de mi Padre a negative review because they are unable to wrap their brains around the actual concept of the film. If you have an hour and a half to kill and/or you're a fan of Will Ferrell, then give this film a chance.
