Review of Carve Her Name with Pride (1958) by Gwen D — 28 Jul 2008
I have always loved with this film despite the tragic ending. The true story is so inspiring and Virginia McKenna plays the lead female part in such an understated way that you could only warm to Violette Szabo.
From the film it is easy to see that Violette lived about a thousand lives in the 2nd world war as she fell in love, married, experience motherhood and widowhood. Not forgetting her work as a British agent and being captured only to fall for another British agent.
More than most people will experience in one lifetime!! Her execution was an absolute travesty.
