Review of Cars 3 (2017) by Enrico B — 15 Jun 2017
I love the Pixar Cars films (even the misunderstood spy spoof Cars 2) so I'm coming into Car 3 with an open mind and open arms. Surprisingly enough, Cars 3 takes the smart route of highlighting mentorship, individuality and age.
There's a lot to enjoy visually of course, particularly an exciting dirt track derby sequence in the middle of the film. Pixar has outdone themselves in creating rich, detailed scenery for a film populated by anthropomorphic vehicles.
Yet leave it to Pixar to give an abundance of heart and emotion to these beloved characters. They are enjoyable, well-rounded and surprisingly relatable. So for all the crap that that's thrown at this franchise, it's easy to overlook its simple joys.
What I love about Cars 3 is that it effortlessly embrace its place in Pixar's canon, and that in itself is quite admirable.
