Good for the kids and tying up the story line, not so for adults it fell flat, just missed where the whole cars thing goes from here, we all know from prior movie the heart of car is the engine so how come McQueen couldn't just get one those faster body styles after wreck would made a better come back story... to learn to race old style with new technology race frame...
Disney missed the selling of new style McQueen as they added new characters to the movie line, they could have still sold Old McQueen and the new McQueen and made a lot more money.
Bad Marketing.
