Review of Cars 3 (2017) by Jak-Luke S — 23 Jul 2017
Plays well within its own mythology with the first film and completely disregardsthe second with great effect. Focusing on deep rooted character makes a welcome addition but misses its mark with what it wants to do and ends up wallowing.
The feminist approach I greatly enjoyed but the film fails to really push it until the last five minutes and completely forgets about the talents of Bonnie Hunt. Wilson still feels phoning it in but is the only character with any depth and as much as Hammer is enjoying himself, his character is incredibly transparent and bland.
Hearing the late and fantastic Paul Newman once again almost brought tears to my eyes and his character was weaved rather wonderfully into the film.
