Review of Cars 3 (2017) by Cameron C — 18 Jun 2017
Saw it on June 17, 2017 on it's opening weekend. So I don't know why I'm reviewing this 5 days later. "Cars 3" is of course the third installment to the Cars franchise. Most of the characters from the first two movies are here but it is not just focused on McQueen and his friends.
The very main characters here are of course Lightning McQueen. (Owen Wilson) Lightning McQueen's new trainer Cruz Ramirez. (Cristela Alonzo) and a new hot shot racer Jackson Storm. (Armie Hammer) Mater, Luigi, Sally, and the friends still have scenes.
This movie is mainly about Lightning McQueen after being the very best for years, things are changing. His friends are all gone or retiring off the tracks. With all McQueen's buddies retiring he's gotten old and more competition from newcomers.
As you see in the teaser, in one of his recent races, McQueen flips over and gets injured. That's when Lightning decides to get some help. After he gets over his injury, he gets help from one of the best trainers in the world.
The trainer is Cruz Ramirez played by Cristela Alonzo. She fixes McQueen and gets a great paint job and helps McQueen get back on the track for the next season in this fun, emotional, ride. The movie is mainly about the racing which I loved.
"Cars 3" is a great Pixar movie. Much better than Cars 2 in 2011. Now let's get onto the positives and negitaves. Cars 3 is a movie that is emotional, fun, and most of the characters here are likable.
I love the racing scenes. The training scenes are pretty fun especially the junkyard scene. My negitaves are that there are surprisingly a lot of lame jokes. When they try to crack a joke, it barely works.
Also, there were a few annoying characters here especially Luigi. He's in the first two movies and he's the Italian stereotype car. He says paparazzi way too many times in the movie in an "ITALIAN" way and Pixar expects the audience to laugh hard at that.
Other than that, "Cars 3" is a great ride. I haven't seen the first Cars in years so I can't really tell you if "Cars 3" lives up to that. I'm gonna giv "Cars 3"an 8/10.
