I liked Cars and the message it encourages - winning isn't everything - but wasn't totally enthralled with the characters and the delivery of the story like I was with other Pixar outings. Pretty to look at? Absolutely.
Races are exhilarating and the pacing is solid and McQueen's journey comes to a satisfying conclusion, but I just felt like Cars never quite went the extra mile (pun intended?) it needed to go to stand toe to toe with Pixar's previous outings.
Regardless of its predictability, though, Car is a fast ride that's pretty on the eyes to boot, even with its story's pitfalls.
