Review of Cars 2 (2011) by Kevin G — 25 Nov 2013
Well, I guess it was bound to happen. Disney together with Pixar finally made a movie that you can skip and not feel bad doing it. Now granted I gave the original Cars movie 3 Stars back when it came out and before this squeal existed, it was my worst rated Pixar film.
So going into this, it was pretty easy for me to have low expectations for it. But even with my low expectations, this one ended up proving to be quite the average run of the mill animated feature and is now the new champion for the worst rated Pixar film in my book.
There just really isn't anything here that you are missing. There were a few funny parts that involved Mater that I laughed a little on and the many different kinds of Cars around the world all come to life was interesting to see.
However this Cars film has some James Bond moments here and there and in the Cars universe the James Bond touches are just too silly to get into. I found myself more interested in the race with Lightning McQueen and Francesco Bernoulli then I was with Mater and his secret agent story.
Lets hope Pixar bounces back in 2012 to their must see movie ways because this one combined with their standards of excellence is quite an embarrassment. Shame on you Disney/Pixar for letting your standards slack with this one.
