Review of Carrie (2013) by Austin H — 31 Jan 2015
The latest Carrie adaptation is pretty good, there are some strengths and weaknesses. Nothing will top the DePalma version of course, but this does have some tricks up its sleeve.Chloe Moritz has pretty good moments as the lead character, and Julianne Moore, seemingly born to play the mother role, is very good as well (though no Piper Laurie).
Again, this movie, like all the others, feels the need to change the ending a bit (the 2002 TV movie is the closest to what happens in the climax). I actually find it interesting that this seems like a remake of the 1976 movie rather than an adaptation of the book.
