Review of Carrie (2013) by Mario M — 31 Jan 2014
A good try. For starters, moving the story into the age of cyberbullying certainly intensifies the torture heaped on Carrie and makes her antagonists even nastier. Also, the prom scene and its immediate aftermath are a bit more intricate and satisfying.
However, Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie are the ultimate Carrie and Margaret, and this remake is nowhere nearly as creepy and unsettling as Brian de Palma's take.
