Review of Carrie (2013) by Nick P — 21 Mar 2015
I'm a sucker for horror films that are less about blood and more about messing with your head. In this way, Carrie is my kind of horror film.
However, the payoff at the end does fall flat. I wanted to truly hate Carrie's classmates and get a great revenge scene, but it just didn't quite do it for me. I also agree with other reviews, that this is not a role for Chloe Moretz. She is way too attractive and likeable to really pull off Carrie, though obviously not for a lack of trying.
I also would have really loved to have seen Sissy Spacek come back as the mother. How great would that have been?
One last thing I have questions about is where were the police? Mayhem breaks out at the local high school prom and the prime suspect just walks away? She still had time to murder another two classmates and her mom, plus take a whole bath and no one went to find her? No cops ever even showed up at her door.
