Review of Carrie (2002) by Megan T — 21 Apr 2014
I'm honestly surprised that the remake is as good as it is, but at the same time, the director's (Kimberly Peirce - "Boys Don't Cry") track record eases the blow. She chose to follow Stephen King's book more closely, adding elements that Brian DePalma stepped over for the more suspenseful approach.
I prefer elements from both versions of the story, but I respect their choice to stick to the original story, including subplots and delving deeper into the character's psyches to make the story feel more complete.
Long story short (too late), I wholly recommend this with the lights out. Definitely a fun ride.
