Review of Carousel (2013) by John R — 03 Jan 2009
I am torn about reviewing this film . . . some great, great music ("If I Loved You" and "You'll Never Walk Alone" are two of my favorite songs from Broadway), but the film is awkwardly staged and filmed, and the whole concept of the story is, to me, confused, depressing, and even for a musical, really doesn't make sense.
Still, the music is stupendous, and Gordon MacRae and Shirley Jones are great musical theater stars.
