Review of Carousel (2013) by John L — 10 May 2009
This musical made me think one thought: feminism has just been set back 50 years. Then I looked at the date it was made, and realized that this is the era where my grandmother got most of her ideals...
I don't know what to say about this... The musical portions where slightly entertaining, and taking in to account the time it was made, I have to compensate for the cheese factor...
So I guess it could be said to be an ok film if your a fan of this type. It was entertaining enough... And the dialog between characters had it's good points, the dance numbers were easy to interpret, a few on the insults that were all in good taste back then made me chuckle and the character drama was like a prequel to all the soaps that we are graced with today. I personally thought it was kind of lame, but I just watched this when nothing was on at 1am when I couldn't sleep, so I'm no judge.
Take a look for yourself if you should so feel the urge.
