Review of Carol (2015) by Katie Y — 29 Jan 2016
Longing looks, uncertainty, and cautious confidence entering into a same sex romance in the 50's is exactly why this movie is perfectly done in it's subtlety. In many ways it's a more realistic portrayal of falling in love than movies that a filled with immediate drama and intense passion that fizzles out.
They have great chemistry and I'm cheering for them to make it from the get go. A lovely movie, wonderful time spent on getting the period piece right, and superb acting. If people could just slow down and let the characters in, this movie would be appreciated even more.
