Review of Carol (1990) by Mike P — 06 Jan 2016
I usually love a slow-burn film with great acting, which I expected this to be. But it was just dull, with little chemistry between the two leads, minor characters who seemed to have inexplicable or no motivation for their behaviour, and poor and clunky dialogue.
It looked great. In fact, it was like watching a 2-hour Revlon commercial. There was a scene towards the end the film where Blanchett's performance struck just the right chord and it was very moving, but it had nothing to do with the main relationship which just wasn't credible for me.
