Review of Carol (1990) by Richshane38 . — 12 Jan 2016
This was beautifully acted, beautifully shot and tightly directed. Blanchett was spell binding, a true alpha in every sense of the word. Mara portrayed wide eyed innocence doomed by impending reality. Although the film maintained a low to medium simmer, it never felt like it reached it's full potential.
I left the theater feeling unfulfilled - much like someone who lived a secret life of "immorality". In hindsight, that was the whole point. A true "Brokeback Mountain"-esque film for the L in the LGBT community - hopeful and heartbreaking all at once.
