Review of Carol (1970) by Lisa V — 14 Jan 2016
Deliberately slow moving, hard to sit through, no character development or reason why these two ended up together. One dimensional characters. You'll need some coffee to stay awake. I almost fell asleep twice. The best scene I feel is at the very end when "Carol" is sitting at the table and gives a knowing long look to her special friend. As for all of the long, conversation less scenes including the many driving scenes, I mean... it's really lacking in content. And also very dry with next to no humor. The trailer caught my attention, but the actual movie was hard to endure. Sorry. Thumbs down. Would have liked to have been surprised by the characters instead of always being shown the same quality of one thing only in their emotions.
The movie tries to convince us that all you need is pure "attraction" which then eliminates the need to actually "converse" with the person. But, come on. This is real life or at least trying to depict that. So overall, not believable. I feel like I wasted my money, except for seeing the last scene which I made mention to earlier on in this review.
