Polankski may be in the director's chair, but the true deal breaker with Carnage is whomever was responsible for casting it. This dream quartet of actors all give marvelous, funny and uninhibited performances that touch on virtually every human emotion.

..and not once does the film feel over-the-top or self-congratulatory. At it's best, Carnage works as both a parody on the irrelevant mentalities of parenting, and the blind hatred that the middle and upper classes share.

Seeing that I haven't seen the source material (Reza's play the God of Carnage) I can't justly say this adapted version is a smooth transition, but I can say that this film is nothing less than superb as it's own identity.

This review of Carnage (1984) was written by on 28 Jun 2012.

Carnage has generally received mixed reviews.
