Review of Carmen Jones (1954) by Daniel Y — 06 Nov 2007
This is one of the greatest annomolies of early cinema... why? Well, it is a top notch musical that Hollywood didn't know what to do with because it's robust talented cast took to the screen as if race never mattered.
.. as if racism never exsisted. And poor Dorothy Dandridge... Hollywood had no clue what to do with her after this... and neither did poor Dorothy. I could get through Donald Bogle's it was so depressing.
Favorite line: "I'll keep a candle burning in the window for ya.".
