Review of Carlos (2010) by W.e. R — 01 Sep 2011
There's no doubt about it: this is a vibrating film with astounding bravura. Like "There Will Be Blood", "Carlos" is a brilliant analysis about a person's twisted mind. Notwithstanding the length of the film, it's rapid-fire pace makes it to be an engrossing, highly stylish, ravishing and wry experience.
Edgar Ramirez is brilliant as Carlos the Jackal, and Olivier Assayas' skilful direction make out of this dynamite movie one of the best ones of the year. And, let's hope (despite it is [actually] a miniserie) that the Academy rewards Ramirez's and Assayas' terrific work.
A film that deserves to be praised.
