Review of Carlito's Way: Rise to Power (2005) by Tim M — 29 Aug 2006
An inreresting gangster movie. It is great to see Jay Hernandez back after the brilliant "Hostel". This is a prequel to "Carlito's Way" the 1993 film starring Al Pacino and Sean Penn.
This film is very under-rated. It is a well-written film, well directed and brilliantly acted. Despite a slow start and a predictable ending, this delivers in more ways than one. Sean Combs is superb as Ricky.
At some points it is very unbelivable and unrealistic. However, I like to focus on the positives and this is has a lot. Definately worth a watch, quite a few very suspenseful moments as well. A very good gangster movie.
