Review of Carlito's Way (1993) by Kari K — 15 Nov 2011
Although hes a former mobster, he still feels like a real one. This is one of my favourite films, hands down. You dont see a lot of gangster movies like this. Most of them are getting too far in, this one is trying to get out.
Different is always respected in my book. Penn plays in my personal favourite role of his as a coked out psycho jew lawyer, and he and Pacino click really well. THeres a lot of hope with this movie, its not all a loss.
Its kind of a reversal of Scarface for DePalma, but this one is underrated and scarface is very overrated.
