Review of Carlito's Way (1993) by Peter B — 15 May 2012
Some typically good DePalma set pieces but the rest of the time this is far too over-directed.
Good turn from Penn as the corrupt lawyer, but Pacino's performance is uneven (and the voiceover is pretty awful) and some of the supporting cast are so poor, caricaturish and unconvincing they take you out of the film.
Can't give it anymore than 6/10.
