Review of Carlito's Way (1993) by Leandro C — 04 Feb 2011
Im certainly not the worlds biggest gangster movie fan, but Id have to say that this is right up there as one of my favourites, I think because it has a more human side, and that the main protagonist Charlie (Al Pacino) is actually trying to get away from all the trouble, but it simply wont leave him alone.
Sean Penn is utterly superb, and Pacino goes further than his usual 'shouty Italian man' and gives a really strong performance. Coupled with great camera work and some lovely music, this is a great, great gangster movie, and also much more.
