Review of Carl(a) (2011) by Victoria S — 12 Dec 2015
Stories like Carla's deserve to be told & seen! In a world that is still struggling with acceptance of others who lead lifestyles and have values different from one's own, it's heartbreaking to see that there are still those that additionally have to work hard to accept their own selves, too.
The movie Carl(a) shares with us the true daily outward struggle that Carla goes through with family, with friends, with strangers - but one of the most powerful scenes of this movie really confronts Carla to think about who she really is/what defines her, ultimately proving that her own definition of herself is the hardest of all to come to terms with.
Powerful story by the writers/director.
