Review of Cargo 200 (2007) by Suzanne L — 17 Apr 2008
If you're looking for the crudest, most brutally real perspective on Soviet society and its rotting interior during the 1980s, this is it.
Unfortunately, it is very much self-absorbed in its quest to portray this depressing, festering state, so much so that it does not answer "so what?" There seems to be no point to this movie other than to showcase the brutality and corruption - both moral and material - at that time, which makes me wonder if I could have skipped this for a real documentary on cable and gained more complete a perspective of why the turning point in 1985 and not any other year.
