This is my favourite movie by my favourite director, Mike Leigh. It came out the year I finished my first degree, so I related to it quite strongly. It's just about life - people change, people mellow, some people get a raw deal and others do well despite being a bit shitty.
Brilliant scene in the pub where Annie and Ricky are talking psychobabble and Hannah asks what they think about Margaret Thatcher "do you think she will carry on ad nauseum into the next century or will she be assissinated?".
Fabulous!
