Review of Caramel (2007) by David S — 08 Feb 2009
Very smartly done, it skips the cheesy straight to simply telling the story of 5 different women. The story sticks together and shows some realistic Lebanese society ticks, Labaki subtly brushed the surface of some issues and did not tackle them, but it all fit with the title and the general atmosphere, the sweetness of caramel. I particularly liked the Linda/ Charles' story, and how a woman can be given hope by attention and the promise of love, and how sad it is to have to give it up for another type of love.
Great job from non professional actresses, they all were very convincing.
