Review of Caramel (2007) by Mathilde P — 06 Jun 2009
Caramel shows Lebanese culture but far from making it the purpose of the film - the situations presented could easily take place in most countries today. Light, sensitive and humorous, it portrays feelings of very different women, who understand each other well.
Though scenes focus on their difficulties, there is a harmonious feeling promoted by the strong sense of fellowship that exists between the characters. Issues are treated with realism, yet in a light way.
