Review of Capturing the Friedmans (2003) by Martin M — 20 Nov 2009
The debate can go on and on about what really happened and about human memory, but is it a good movie? It's certainly riveting; a broad spread of comments is put together; most viewers seem to end up on the fence; these are probably all signs that it is a good documentary. I feel like it doesn't really delve deep enough but is that deliberate by the director? Initially I thought it wasn't, it was perhaps a bit naive of him, but as time passes I think perhaps it's all deliberate and in fact is very clever, because regardless of your viewpoint you are left wanting more detail and I know it certainly won't leave my head for a while....
Definitely worth watching, regardless of what you think you might already know.
