Review of Capturing the Friedmans (2003) by Anna B — 03 Jan 2009
Wow. weekend of heavy movies for me. in my defense (since it is a saturday night) I thought I was going to be watching a docu-comedy about dentists illegally selling laughing gas out of their house (is that even a movie? or illegal?).
but the reality was so well made that I preferred what I got. maybe it had to do with andrea morricone's moving score and jarecki's demme-esque direction, but I really felt the confusion and heartbreak of a family being torn apart from the inside and outside.
and then somehow finding the hope and peace to keep on living.
