Review of Captain Ron (1992) by Carlos U — 27 May 2008
Captain Ron: A movie about a captain that may be questionable to hire...yet gets you through to the end.
Captain Ron's plot is like that of an adventure. The plot though is only average, and the character development is way to...sudden rather than gradual. The acting was decent-nothing outstanding, but nothing where you simply can't see the movie. The movie's editing is pretty good. I enjoyed the movie despite it's shortcommings: it succedded what it wanted to do and that is make me laugh. I wasn't laughing throughout the movie, but laugh I did nonetheless. The music was pretty cheesy, but it got you unto mood of the movie. And the special effects don't look that aged, though I doubt they probably ever will.
Overall this movie gets an above average grade (6/10) and is a movie I recommend watching if you have nothing better to do. Just do warn you that despite the PG-13 raiting, you do see breasts though briefly.
On Common Sense: When they go off to sea, what are they going to do about family? Debt? Work? School? Why are the pirates stupid enough not to have guard sentries? Why didn't Captain Ron hide a gun in case the father dude didn't like them?
