Review of Captain Phillips (2013) by Tom K — 21 Jun 2014

The first half of the film is nothing short of incredible, however great performances are hindered by a dumb, inappropriate score that drowns all dialogue, turning what could have been a great third act into a messy pulp.

However, I have to give credit where credit is due : Tom Hanks is his usual, brilliant self, but Barkhad Abdi is the real star here, giving a nuanced performance that makes us pity, rather than hate, his character.
