Review of Captain Phillips (2013) by Tor M — 05 Feb 2015
I feard this film to be too close to the very good Danish film "Kapringen".
How can ship pirating films be rather different? Well, they can, naturally.
While the plots are pretty much the same we do follow - as the title refere to - the captain in much of the playtime.
An intense film that manage to stay interesting the entire two hours of playtime - this is absolutely an impressive and powerful thriller. Hanks is good but the somalies impresses even more. Few flaws and we get to see some neat military stuff by the US. It's not looking stupid either - weird and impressive. Maybe a bit long, but it's never draged out and it got a nice, long, tense curve.
8 out of 10 supper times.
