Review of Captain Phillips (2013) by Josh V — 01 Jun 2015

I loved Captain Phillips up until the finale where Paul Greengrass uses the exact same score as he did in the finale of his other classic, United 93. This REALLY bothered me. It just felt like such a lazy thing for him to do. Then again, when I mention this to people they always go "Really? The score was the same in the United 93 finale sequence? Oh. I never knew that." So perhaps I need to lighten up.

Besides that, Captain Phillips is completely gripping from the first shot to the last. Tom Hanks is excellent and Greengrass's signature documentary style is superb.
