Review of Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter (1973) by Jayden ; — 24 Jun 2008
The Best from the Ol' Hammer's Drying Days. Our Hero, Cap'n Crunch Kronos is a badass, simply as that; he survived the vampire's bite, apparently gets all the chicks, smokes pot, carry two swords (a samurai sword & rapier), travels with his hunchback, wacky sidekick and is quite laid-back about the shenanigans.
The story combines elements such as mystery, three musketeers-styled swordplay, black comedy and Hammer Horror that its lost years before. Also Caroline Munro, who's one of the most beautiful woman ever on film is Kronos' love interest (Kronos is a lucky b@stard).
The serious problem in Captain Kronos, is the antagonist remains faceless too long, which only really works in small doses. Here its to the point, where its really hard to feel a presence. Captain Kronos, the most underrated entry from Hammer Horror.
