Review of Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter (1973) by Senor C — 26 May 2009

A very daring movie for back in its day from hammer... shying away from the well known vampire legend and making something new, dont expect good old vampires biting necks here... here they suck the souls dry of life making there victims lose there youth as it where. I actually enjoyed this movie, sword fights and more like a action hero movie, bringing something new to the genre, today this has been done alot so it may not come as a big surprise to some, but if like me your a avid hammer horror fan this will bring surprises.

Its alittle like Hugh Jackmans Van Helsing dare I say, but with that good old british hammer of the 70's making this much more enjoyable and hints of black humour, i.e in one scene when his mate turns into a vampire he tries to find out how to kill a particular type of vampire using him as an experiement.. and then theres the toad burials!!! Yes before computer generated effects.. good old hammer relied on its redder than life blood, plastic bats.. and in this movie toads!!!

A must see for a true hammer fan ... its just brings something alittle bit different!
