Review of Captain Fantastic (2016) by James S — 18 Feb 2017
An unusual tale of a family cast outside of modern society, that whist proving a relatively entertaining watch, poses a number of thought provoking questions about life and our surroundings as we know it.
Viggo Mortensen plays a father to his six children, and along with the help of his wife, have devoted themselves to the wild, and a more rural way of life. The difficulties with their mother form the basis of the story, and interestingly show the comparison between them and the modern world as we know it.
Social norms are challenged, whilst an uplifting and accepting undertone runs throughout.
