Review of Captain Corelli's Mandolin (2001) by Sarah O — 27 May 2007
I think that this film was intended to give a strong message about the circle of life throughout war, love, pain, disaster, and death. However, it fell short. The film went on a bit too long, the romance between Corelli and Pelagia was too contrived, and the characters were underdeveloped.
There were some fantastic parts and the scenery was stunning. I also loved the singing and mandolin playing. However, in terms of thematic development and storyline, this movie was sorely lacking.
