Review of Captain Blood (1935) by Benjamin S — 05 Sep 2007
A first half that kind of takes a little bit of work from the audience. Its strength lies entirely in one's ability to root for Errol Flynn's Dr. Blood - which I had a bit of a problem with. Flynn is an okay action hero, but overall, it's hard to like him as a serious protagonist.
The film soars, however, once he assembles his cronies, and Blood's pirate career begins. B+.
