Review of Captain Blood (1935) by Christian D — 07 Jun 2009
This move was great, a lot of fun to watch and the characters had this simplistic charm that I found very refreshing, the bad guys were bad guys and the good guys were good guys and everyone knew where they stood.
The twists at the end, with the Governor and the King, were just great and left me smiling after watching the movie. I can imagine how children 70 years ago would have charged out of the theaters swashbuckling to adventure on their way homes.
The acting was not really all that good, Errol and Olivia were OK, though I have seen both of them put in better performances than this one. Also, the movie was little on the long side and started dragging in a couple of place which cost it one star in my opinion.
