Review of Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) by Mike S — 10 Jun 2016
I'm probably getting a little jaded by the Marvel movies. I wanted to see this mostly to see how it fits in with the TV show "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." I like how Marvel maintains continuity between the movies and TV shows.
In this outing, S.H.I.E.L.D., Captain America, and Black Widow (Where all the other superheroes? Do they get mandatory vacations?) work to uncover a plot involving a secretive criminal organization bent on world domination.
The Winter Soldier in the title refers to a super-soldier / assassin. He isn't really that central to the plot, so I'm not sure why the movie is named for him. Lots of gadgets, ambushes, chases, battles, and a pretty cool winged flying suit for one of the new characters.
It keeps moving, which is good, because it doesn't make much sense. It is, after all, a comic book.
