Review of Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) by Benjamin C — 12 Aug 2017
Love how Cap is still trying to evolve with the times. Funny opening scene. He's now working for SHIELD running badass operations with none other than Natasha Romanov (Black Widow). I like how down-to-earth and old-fashioned he is (that is why he is one of my favorite heroes. We are introduced to Falcoln in this movie (a very funny and legit soldier and great addition to the films). SHIELD is compromised what's going on?!
Side note: Oh shit Nick! Oh wait, what?!
They are on the run, I'm digging it. I like how this movie still makes connections to the past. I like the Captain America/Black Widow pair. Hydra lives and they have created a soldier, The Winter Soldier. Marvel has really gotten darker and more violent with their films. Nick lifts up the patch! Cool fight scene. Nick is off the grid. The Marvel Universe is getting more intense (a build up for a certain film I wonder?) The "Captain America" movies definitely get deeper in terms of feelings and relationships between friends and enemies, between past and present.
Once again a great ending.
Mid credit scene: The Baron is heard chatting with an underling, assessing HYDRA's situation in the aftermath of Alexander Pierce and Project Insight's failure. He reveals that Hydra still has many bases and the one he is in houses Loki's weapon from "Avengers". He reveals "The Twins", results from experimentation with the weapon they have.
End credit scene!: The Winter Soldier is seen laying low in the Captain America museum looking at the section that contains information about James "Bucky" Barnes, who he really is.
Stan Lee appears as a night guard at a museum where Captain America steals his old suit, after seeing it's gone he says, "Oh man, I am so fired!".
Stone tracker: Hydra is in control of the Chitauri Scepter, which houses the Mind Stone, and they are doing experiments with it.
