Review of Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) by Michael B — 09 Sep 2017
Robert Redford is Hydra and so is Frank Grillo (aka Rumlow). Turns out Hydra has successfully infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. at even the highest level, which is ludicrous given that S.H.I.E.L.D. is supposed to protect America from Hydra and other such threats. I guess S.H.I.E.L.D. is just a bunch of amazingly stupid Americans.
Captain America, the white hero, has a black sidekick in this movie because that's just how movies and TV are these days.
I never believed even for one second that Nick Fury was dead. Too bad, I never liked him and he adds absolutely nothing to these movies.
Cap is supposed to be a master combat strategist but his strategy against Bucky was just to let Bucky punch him in the face over and over again in the hope that Bucky would remember that he and Cap are friends.
The one saving grace of this film is that it has the best fight scenes out of any superhero movie to date, even better than its successor, Civil War. The action scenes put other movies to shame, especially Chris Nobrain's The Dork Knight and all of the X-Men movies.
