Review of Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) by Arthur B — 18 Dec 2017
Hands down the best movie of the MCU! A captivating action thriller with spectacular action sequences and shocking twists. This movie light on Marvel's typical humor, but is the prime example that a Marvel Studios film can work with minimal humor.
Bucky is revealed to be the Winter Soldier and in a shocking twist, Hydra was actually working within the ranks of S.H.I.E.L.D. The elevator fight scene is one of the best fight sequences in the MCU (rivaling Daredevil's hallway fight scene).
Steve's visit to a much older Peggy Carter was touching and you can feel Steve's emotions when he realizes that most of the people he loved and knew are either dead or old. The end of the film disillusions Captain America's ongoing fight for what's right and with Bucky's disappearance, it further rips into Steve that his own best friend is brain-washed and leads into his search for the Winter Soldier.
This is the definite Marvel film. This one is extraordinary.
