Review of Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) by James C — 07 Jun 2018

Absolutely a fantastic film. The characters connect with you on every level (definitely the relationship between bucky and steve). The plot is really what makes this film shine. There is a twist at every corner and a lot of espionage that leaves you wondering what the answer is to the big mystery until the end when Captain America has his show down with Hydra and the Winter Soldier.

The message of the film is also deeply intertwined and it is done excellently as we are left questioning what freedom actually is and recognizing the price that is necessary to pay for it, themes perfect for Captain America.

As a whole this movie as close to flawless as you can get with a great story, a ton of espionage and mystery, great action with meaning behind it, great performances, a fantastic score, and a message that sticks with you even more than the high flying action and stakes at the end of the film.
