Review of Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) by Brandon W — 24 Apr 2015
Captain America: The First Avenger is a great Marvel movie that didn't necessarily made Captain America people's favorite hero until the sequel came. Chris Evans as Captain America is great and is the right choice for the main hero.
The action is good in its own movie, it does make it more standard when the sequel was released, but are still impressive to watch. Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely did a great job with the script and in the past years, this is the first movie that I was starting to take notice of them.
The chemistry between Steve and Peggy is really good in a respectable and caring way. Tommy Lee Jones is good in this and has a lot of funny moments for him. Hugo Weaving is great as Red Skull, but his character seems like your average comic book villain that is nothing special.
While it may not be the best comic book movie, Captain America: The First Avenger is still an entertaining movie that has a retro give for the 1940s.
