Review of Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) by Kyle L — 19 Apr 2014

Captain America: The First Avenger is one of the best Marvel movies in the Marvel Universe and one of the greatest Superhero movies ever made. Captain America; The First Avenger explores the origins of the first and leader of the Avengers.

Steve Rogers is an ill man who participates in an experimental program that turns him into a super soldier known as Captain America. He soon faces his first enemy Red Skull along with his team HYDRA and with the help of his close friend Bucky Captain America must save the world from danger and must stop Red Skull once and for all.

To be honest I so love this movie and it has everything that Marvel fans are looking for. Although it is quite different to its sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier this movie relies heavily on fun, action and a nice super hero tone rather than a dark one that the sequel took.

One of the great things about Captain America: The First Avenger is that the film has loads of magnificent settings and I love the design of the WWII(World War II)Brooklyn in this film it really looks magnificent for the birth of the leader of the Avengers even the costume designs look realistic and pure awesome when compared to Thor 1 and 2.

The other things I like about this film is that the whole movie has some amazing special and visual effects. I love the way Steve Rogers look like first in the movie where he looks like a small man with an illness until he becomes taller in the next half of the movie after he gets injected with the serum that turns him into a super soldier known as Captain America while the rest of the effects are super awesome in this film.

The other things I like about this film is that the whole movie is full of action sequences that are fun to watch and this movie features one of the most memorable scenes in the Marvel Universe(Captain America chasing one of Red Skull's henchmen after his scientist friend gets killed, The birth of Captain America and the scene where we finally get to see Red Skull's true face).

Also the fight scenes are cool in this film although in my opinion the fight scenes in the sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier are way better and more thrilling than in this film but at least this film has some good fight scenes.

Plus I love some of the hilarious humor in the movie and some of them made me laugh a lot oh and the visual and special effects are super awesome in this film. Now the acting is amazing in this film. Chris Evans did an amazing job with his performance in this film as Captain America I even adore his performance in The Avengers and in the sequel as well because he managed to exceed his performance in those films over this movie.

Tommy Lee Jones did a very good job with his performance as Steve Rogers' commanding officer and he delivers a couple of hilarious dialogue throughout the movie. Sebastian Stan did a good job with his performance as Steve's close friend Bucky who later on in the sequel becomes the brainwashed assassin The Winter Soldier where he exceeds his performance.

Hayley Atwell did a magnificent job with her performance as Captain America's love interest Peggy Carter and last but not least Hugo Weaving did a magnificent job with his performance as the villain Red Skull and his character is menacing and pure evil in the movie and this is his best performance since his role as Megatron in the Transformers series.

Director Joe Johnston did an amazing job with his work on this movie and his directing is tight and extremely focused and he managed to make Captain America come to life before he showed up in The Avengers but The Russo brothers showed gallons of improvements over Johnston's work in the sequel to this film.

Overall Captain America: The First Avenger is one of the greatest Marvel movies ever made. I still think though that the sequel is the superior to this movie. But this film did a very good job though and its a fine addition to the Marvel universe.

This movie gets a 10/10. Captain America: The Winter Soldier will still be the best Marvel movie ever made in my opinion.
