Review of Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) by Danny P — 08 Jul 2017
If, going in, someone had told me this movie feels quite old fashioned, I would have expected to roll my eyes at it.
But I actually found it quite refreshing, fun, and surprisingly sincere. Its an old-fashioned story about a true hero - someone selfless in defense of the ideals he believes in. And the film manages to pull this off without making him completely uninteresting. A conflict that is rooted in real history, in addition to a juicy Hugo Weaving performance, helps prop up an otherwise cliche narrative. A worthwhile entry into the MCU.
